X Museum presents There Are More Things, a solo exhibition by Chinese artist Xing Wanli, on the museum’s first floor. Featuring more than 40 works created in recent years, the exhibition draws on inspiration the artist has gathered from a range of literary works, films and television productions, and video games. Using literary texts as points of departure, Xing combines images and memories to develop his visual compositions. Through an exploration of the relationships among “text,” “image,” and “memory,” the artist creates a diverse range of visual scenes, opening up multidimensional spaces for reflection.

The exhibition’s title is derived from a short story by Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges, included in his collection The Book of Sand. The story’s fragmented narrative and abrupt ending leave the reader with a lingering sense of incompletion. The phrase “There Are More Things” itself suggests the multiple possibilities that remain unresolved within any given event, opening up a space of imagination and interpretation throughout the exhibition.
